2023-06-01 Latest PEO Update
BTECH Students,
On May 15th, the PEO launched their new application process, including updates to their website. The new website includes a questionnaire that applicants must complete to judge if they are ready to apply. It is very important to understand that NO NEW GRADUATES – of any program – will be eligible to apply. Under the new rules in Ontario, applicants are eligible only after they have completed 4-years of work experience, plus any confirmatory exams (currently the exams are only for international applicants). It is still unclear how BTECH grads can be evaluated to obtain any required confirmatory exams. We, therefore, remain in a holding pattern in Ontario as we wait for the PEO to provide us with a timeline for the re-review of the BTECH Programs. In the short term, we still advise BTECH grads to apply to BC or Alberta. These provinces still have an EIT program and online examinations.
There is an important PEO Council Meeting at the end of June and hopefully, the re-review of the BTECH programs will be discussed. We will provide another update after the results of that meeting.
